Next Generation, a company specializing in self-directed retirement plan administration and custody, has launched a new website page and support materials targeting financial advisors whose clients seek to diversify retirement portfolios through alternative investments. Unlike traditional IRAs confined to stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, self-directed plans permit investors to include a broad spectrum of alternative assets such as real estate, precious metals, private equity, and royalties. Jaime Raskulinecz, Next Generation's founder and CEO, stated that the company developed these resources to help financial advisors broaden their clients' investment horizons, thereby enhancing the value of the client-advisor relationship.
The new materials provide an overview of self-directed IRAs and the various alternative asset options permissible within these plans. Raskulinecz emphasized that many individuals already invest in these asset classes outside their existing IRAs and may not realize they can build tax-advantaged retirement wealth by incorporating them into a self-directed IRA. Next Generation reviews all transactions before executing investment instructions on behalf of clients, who make independent investment decisions based on assets they are familiar with. The company's Information & Education tab offers talking points for advisors to discuss self-direction as a retirement wealth-building strategy with interested clients.
Acknowledging the significance of the advisor-client dynamic, Next Generation's advisory structure allows independent, fee-based professionals to direct client investments according to existing advisory agreements and earn fees on assets held by Next Generation for their clients. This initiative aims to empower advisors with the tools needed to navigate the complexities of alternative investments within retirement planning, potentially leading to more diversified and resilient portfolios. By facilitating access to non-traditional assets, Next Generation seeks to address growing investor interest in alternatives amid market volatility and low-yield environments, while maintaining a focus on education and due diligence to mitigate risks associated with these investments.
