Spasticity & Movement Partners, a specialty rehabilitation practice founded by Dr. David Park, has opened at 15 Engle St, Suite 106 in Englewood, New Jersey. The practice aims to provide focused, compassionate, and evidence-based care for individuals living with spasticity and complex movement challenges, offering a more personalized approach to reduce pain, improve mobility, and regain confidence in daily life.
Spasticity can significantly impact daily activities such as walking, dressing, hygiene, transfers, sleep, and caregiver support. Many patients struggle to understand the causes of tightness, stiffness, spasms, or reduced mobility, and whether improvement is possible. Spasticity & Movement Partners was created to clarify this process, making it more collaborative and centered on each patient's real-life goals.
Dr. David Park, a board-certified physiatrist, leads the practice with advanced training in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain management, and spasticity care. He earned his medical degree through Boston University's accelerated BA/MD program, completed residency at Tufts Medical Center (where he served as chief resident), and pursued fellowship training in pain management in Manhattan. His approach combines medical expertise with patient education and long-term partnership.
"Spasticity care should never be one-size-fits-all," says Dr. Park. "Every patient has a different story, challenges, and goals. My vision was to create a place where patients and caregivers receive clear answers, thoughtful treatment options, and a plan built around what matters most to them."
The practice offers comprehensive spasticity assessments evaluating severity, pattern, and functional impact, including neurologic and musculoskeletal assessment, range of motion testing, gait observation, and goal setting. Treatment plans are individualized and may include oral medications such as baclofen, tizanidine, and diazepam, carefully monitored for symptom relief and side effects. For focal spasticity, targeted procedures like botulinum toxin injections (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Myobloc), phenol nerve blocks, and diagnostic nerve blocks are performed using ultrasound or electromyography guidance for precision. For severe cases, intrathecal baclofen pump management is available, including refills and dose adjustments coordinated with neurosurgical teams.
A defining feature of Spasticity & Movement Partners is its commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration. The practice works with physical and occupational therapists, neurologists, primary care physicians, orthopedic and neurosurgical specialists, speech-language pathologists, durable medical equipment providers, home health agencies, and other care team members to support coordinated management. Progress is measured by functional improvements such as walking farther, transferring safely, reducing pain, or easing caregiver burden, using goal-oriented tracking and reassessment.
Caregivers are integral to the care model, receiving education and practical guidance to improve communication and fit treatment plans into home life. Spasticity & Movement Partners aims to become a trusted leader in spasticity-focused rehabilitation in Northern New Jersey, where personalized treatment meets innovation and clinical expertise pairs with empathy.
